We are all actors.
We try to portray to the outside world what we believe to be the best version of ourselves – through social media as well as our ordinary, everyday interactions. But it’s just a façade that we hide behind. We attempt to conceal our struggles from one another in an effort to make out that we’re alright, and that in spite of everything life throws at us all, we are one of the lucky ones; we have things together.
But that couldn’t be further from the truth. No matter what we pretend, the honest truth is that no one is immune to criticism. We all feel the fragility of life. You don’t have to have a mental illness to know stress, anxiety or loneliness. And yet how many of us decide to fight our battles in silence and alone?
There are no superhumans.
