We are all broken

on

Our problems and issues can sometimes blind us to those of others. We think we are the only ones suffering, but even those closest to us can feel pain without us noticing. But there’s a simple truth which we learn as we age, and it’s something that can improve our lives: we are all broken.

We all have scratches, bruises and scars, both physically and emotionally, from the events in our life leading up to this moment. Nobody is perfect. Nobody is innocent. We have all made mistakes and we all hold regrets. If we’re honest, we’re ashamed of them. Hence why we never admit these feelings to friends and family, and they don’t reciprocate either.

There are times when even the best of us can only see the worst of the world in which we live. The pain, the hurt, the suffering, it all becomes too much, it consumes us. It is us. This can last a day, a week, a month or a year, maybe even several.

However long it lasts, we’re all still searching, looking for that one special person, for that one piece of joy that overpowers all the darkness in our world. Someone to fix us.

But the way in which we do this needs to change. All too often, we turn inwards and isolate ourselves from those usually around us. We try to solve our problems alone. But next time you are down and out, please know this: confide in someone you trust and be open and honest with them. You don’t need to suffer in silence.

I still struggle with opening up to people, though it is one of my goals to be as honest as possible. Thank you for writing this, it made me reflect on some things I’ve been turning over in my head

You’re very welcome, thank you for taking the time to read and comment! Opening up really isn’t easy. But it’s one of those things that become easier the more times you do it. Good luck! 🙂

You should consider making this post your About Page. It really sums up your blog nicely.

    🙂

Haha thanks Sharon. I do actually have an about page, but for some reason I can’t show a link to it on the side bar. But I think it works if you actively search for “About Page” in the search bar. This post is very similar to what I’ve already written though! As always, thanks so much for commenting! 🙂

      1. Oh ok! How strange.. LOL

  4. Beautifully put 🙂

  5. A wonderful post! I have been struggling with this lately. I forget that others struggle too and even though their pain seems minimal to me, only they can truly judge its magnitude. I often forget that a person who doesn’t have mental illness might not have a perfect life either. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Thank you! 🙂 It’s easy to get so wrapped up in our own struggles that we don’t see the problems that others face too. If neither of us communicate our problems, we will never find out about the other. Hope you’re doing ok?

      1. I am doing ok. There are always ups and downs, but I am under very good care and support. Hope you are doing ok too?

I’m pleased to hear that, the support of loved ones can make the biggest difference when times get tough. Yes thanks, I’m doing ok too. More good days than bad at the moment, which is always a good sign 🙂
